Through the Wind and the Rain Fanzine Archives

You are probably all aware of the plight of Tony Bland's family. It has been covered in the national media, and was recently the talking point on ITV's lunchtime news. The issue is whether or not to stop feeding Tony, who is effectively brain dead and has no chance of recovery. I have no wish to enter into this argument, other than to say how incredibly sorry I and many others feel for Tony's family, who will to all intents and purposes eventually see their son die twice.

The blaze of publicity surrounding their plight may help achieve the dignified end to Tony's life so wished for by his devoted parents – or it may hinder and serve to prolong the agony. Whether it is next week, month, year or century, 95 victims of the Hillsborough disaster will become 96. Tony Bland should not be forgotten. Than you Peter Rea and Stuart Littlewood for the AFTER Hillsborough piece. Here is another case of owing respect ot the living – the respect owed to the wishes of Allan and Barbara Bland.

DPP Alan Green said there was not enough evidence to prosecute over Hillsborough (OR Marchioness, OR Sonia Sutcliffe for perjury.) Am I the only one sickened by the understanding and sympathy shown to him when he was arrested for kerb-crawling? Coincidentally, there wasn't any prosecution then either. There is only one phrase applicable to a man with such scant regard for human life – good fucking riddance. Various versions of DPP now abound; drop panties please or dirty prostitute pursuer are tow I've seen.

I FORGIVE (apologies to Forest's BRIAN fanzine)

I forgive away fans singing You're on the Dole
I forgive Michael Thomas his last-minute goal
I forgive Man U fans being total dickheads
I forgive people slagging off out of town Reds
I forgive stewards not letting me in on time
I forgive Peter Bearsdley joining the slime
I forgive matches changing to suit the telly
I even forgive that arsehole Graham Kelly
I forgive other teams' fans envious sneers
I forgive UEFA banning us for six years
I'll forgive most people one misplaced deed
But one thing today still makes my heart bleed
I saw how two papers outrageously lied
When through no fault of theirs, 95 died
In a shop, thumbing through them, close to tears
As I saw before me their scandalous smears
And as long as they're printed and as long as I live
The S** and the S*** I'll never forgive
